So what's up? Well, Christie Madewell and I presented our demonstration lesson on Wed. and I think it went pretty well. Our topic was "word building". I would explain it all, but it would take too long and it's really not THAT interesting, unless you happen to be teaching 2nd graders phonemic awareness.
Katie had a stomach virus Monday night, so I kept her home on Tues., but she was fine all day Tues. and that night we went to the fair in Warren Co. and all was well. So... I sent her to school on Wed., but then Wed. night, she comes to me with both hands over her mouth saying she feels sick. I said, "Do you need to throw up?". She says, "No! I don't want to, then she starts to cry and says that if she throws up, she won't get to go to school tomorrow". It was just the most pitiful thing in the world to see her so sick and crying the whole time because she knew she would have to miss school! Of course, she did have to miss school and she was fine all day. I kept Chas home too, just in case he decided to catch whatever she had, but they were both fine and this morning when I told Chas to get up and get ready for school, he said "You mean I get to go to school today?" He was so happy. I am so grateful that my kids love school so much. I'm pretty sure it won't last, so I am enjoying this time while I can.
The fair was okay. I really don't like going to the fair. Any fair. But, I have to admit, it was fun to see Chas having so much fun. It's amazing how much joy he can pack into one small face. Katie shares my sentiments about fairs. The only part she likes is the games, because she loves all those tacky little toys.
Lately, I just can't get over how much I enjoy my kids at this age. They say and do the funniest things. Katie's birthday is coming up and she wants a metal detector. Chas has a birthday coming up soon too. He is hilarious about commercials. He can actually recite the Aqua Globe commercial verbatim and it is hilarious. I'm thinking about getting him an Aqua Globe for his birthday, except that we don't have any house plants, so I'm not sure what he would do with it.
